Imagine going in for routine shots to enter into 7th grade only to learn that you have an unexplained mass in your stomach. This fearful “routine” visit to the doctor was indeed Brandon’s new reality and the mass was later revealed to be a 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inch tumor in his small intestine. When the tumor was removed, it was determined to be a Spindle Cell Tumor. As Brandon’s fellow classmates were excitedly getting their class schedules and beginning the journey into Junior High School, he was undergoing surgery for a tumor only known to be in men in their 40’s and has not been seen in 20 years!
This courageous young boy underwent more definitive scans and it was established that the cancer had metastasized into his liver, lungs and stomach. By the 6th of April he received his port-a-cath and has since that time sustained 9 rounds of chemotherapy, one week of radiation, and many, many blood and platelet transfusions. His official diagnosis is MPNST (malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors).
Despite the aggressive treatment of the cancer, the latest scans show that new tumors have appeared, and the early tumors have been growing. He has an unconquerable spirit, along with his 6 siblings and incredible parents. This is a special family who has been instrumental in bringing relief too many!
The plan for the future is to make plans week to week because doctors are not familiar with this kind of cancer in such a young boy. Brandon is truly treading new waters and is in need of your love and support. Will you do ANYTHING FOR A FRIEND?

My Dear Friend, October 31, 2011
Oh, I believe there are angels among us. Sent down to us from somewhere up above. They come to you and me in our darkest hours. To show us how to live, to teach us how to give, to guide us with the light of love.
Brandon Winger is one of those angels that will guide us with the light of love. Imagine going in for your routine 7th grade shots only to learn that you have a rare cancerous tumor. This was Brandon’s reality! When his friends were excitedly getting their class schedules and beginning the journey into Jr. High, Brandon was undergoing surgery, chemo, radiation and transfusions! The cancer had metastasized into Brandon’s liver, lungs and stomach. His official diagnosis is MPNST (malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors). The latest scans show that new tumors have appeared, and the early tumors have been growing. He has an unconquerable spirit,, along with his 6 siblings and incredible parents.
Just as the love and support have started to roll in, so have the bills in response to this treatment. The Winger’s need our help as the friends and community that make up their lives, so ask yourself, “Will I do ANYTHING FOR A FRIEND?”
We are having a fundraiser on Saturday December 3rd at the Syracuse Community Center. There will be many activities that evening from 5-9 p.m. But what you can do right now is purchase a balloon for $2 (or more!) We can show our families how to live by teaching them how to give as we support the Winger family in this dark hour.
Messages of hope and love will be placed inside the balloons and they will be all over the Community Center. During the event all of Brandon’s supporters will surround him and his family in a display of love and will release the balloons. This is an amazing experience that goes much deeper than the money that is raised, it is a very spiritual, humbling event that will change hearts forever.
Please join me in asking all of your friends and family to purchase a balloon. With much love and gratitude,
Jody Taylor
Balloon Launch Chairperson

We are well aware that there is an entire community that is struggling along with Brandon and his family. We will be holding a special balloon launch for Brandon at the event. Imagine Brandon and his family in the middle of hundreds of loved ones, each holding a balloon as a symbol of their love, support, faith, and hope. It will be a special moment for all of us to reflect on what's truly important! We are selling balloons starting at $2/balloon and we have had balloons go for up to $400 a piece! We would love your support and your hopeful message to place in the balloons. i am at our old school from elementary and i donated 47 dollars to you i hope that my donation really helped. and that you will get better soon!
It is with a heavy heart that I am unable to be around to lend any support to you and your family. It is at times like this that being in the Military really takes its toll on me. I do wish I was able to be there and lend a hand. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am amazed at your courage and determination thru all of this. I hope you get better soon. Love your cousin

I love you all so much and I hope that the spirit is constantly with you. I am sorry that I haven't had the chance to come love you guys in person, but I'm cheering for you and more importantly, praying for you. I know that through the love of an Elder Brother who suffered greatly for all of our pains, the Holy Ghost can keep you company even when I and others cannot. I love you.
We are so happy to have been able to get you the one thing you want most! When Daniel told me what he was planning to do, it literally made me cry! You are such a strong person! I know you can make this! Remember to take lots of pictures on your hunt in Arizona! Daniel and I are rooting for a huge buck to put the rest of the Jolley family to shame! Love you lots!!!
I have not stopped crying for the last 5 minutes. I dont know you but I care. I will be sending a donation and will plan on supporting all of your fundraising efforts. I will make sure this cause gets passed around all of our facebook pages and emails. You have an army behind you....and more troops are joining in to support you every day buddy. Keep it up and never pass a chance up to kiss your momma. See ya soon bud.
Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you and wishing the best for you, and your family. Your Bluff Ridge family is behind you all the way.
I just want you to know that even though I don't know you, you have touched my heart, and I would love to help. I will put out a jar for donations on your behalf. We at Syracuse Dairy Queen will keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers.
God bless you and your family.
My heart goes out to you for all the strength and stamina you have shown through this chapter in your lives. This is a chapter that will continue to make your stronger, not only as a family but also by bringing your community together. Kudos to you for that. My Mom (who was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer this past spring) said to me recently--"I Know your Hands Hurt, But Keep Hanging On!" I believe you have the heart and strength to do so, and I expect to see a whole new wonderful chapter written in the near future! Prayers, Capes, Love and Bug Hugs!
