Our Father, Bob Phelps, has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma, or cancer of the liver duct. This cancer is fast moving and nearly impossible to detect before it becomes inoperable. Unfortunately, this is the case with our dad. Sunday, June 28th, Bob’s skin began to turn yellow like a baby would show Jaundice. Monday we took him to the emergency room and remained in the hospital until the following Monday, July 6th. He is now home on Hospice and is with all of his children and most of his grandchildren. We are not sure how much time he may still have here on earth, but we will cherish each and every moment. Bob is in good spirits and is taking this time to share wisdom and council with each family member. His sense of humor is still intact, and he is making us laugh as we are gathered together. We, as a family, are united in our love for our husband, dad, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. We know this love is reciprocated and we cherish the memories of our dad. Through his example, we have learned the importance of furthering our education, and that we are never too old to go after and reach our educational dreams. The lessons we have learned from this man will live within us for eternity. He has taught us how to love and be loved, how to be parents, how to live with integrity, and how to not ever give up on our dreams. Through his examples we have learned to have a strong work ethic, to always persevere, and so much more. We love and appreciate him so much and bear testimony that our Heavenly Father has a plan. We are thankful for our forever family.
