Preliminary results are in! Thanks to all of your help Cyndi's Anything for a Friend Event generated $28,839.28 to help her defray the financial costs of battling this cancer, but more importantly you helped to lift the emotional and spiritual costs of Cyndi's battle! Thank you all so much.
Cyndi is a single mother of six children, and grandmother of nine. She was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer in December of 2010. She had a double mastectomy soon after and will start chemotherapy in January of 2011. She faces six long months of chemo and then six to eight weeks of radiation. Following that, she hopes to have reconstructive surgery.
Cyndi is a self-employed Marriage and Family Therapist, and has worked hard over the last three years to establish herself and build a practice in North Ogden. She has been an active and giving part of many people's lives. She is constantly sacrificing for others, most noticeably her children and grandchildren. She spends her life trying to make circumstances easier for those around her. We are looking forward for a chance to give back to her.
Due to a pre-existing condition of diabetes, she has been repeatedly denied health insurance. Cyndi is diagnosed with an invasive form of breast cancer which has spread to her lymph nodes and possibly beyond. She already has had a double mastectomy, which will be followed by chemotherapy and radiation therapy over the coming months.

Location: Weber State UniversityI want to add my thanks to all of you as well. So often when Amy leaves from taking care of me I think of what a wonderful woman she is. Then my thoughts turn to the wonderful people who, by their goodness towards me, confirm what I know about her. Someone once told me that a person's real beauty is defined by the people who love them and the manner in which they show/share that love. You have all shown me how beautiful my sister is. Each of you have donated your time and your money to helping me because you love my sister. And she loves each of you. I want you each to know that it is through the goodness and contributions of others that I am able to get through this. On my own, I'm just not this strong and able to hold a smile when it feels like my world is crumbling. At the time of my diagnosis, the first fear that hit me was that I was alone, without a partner to help me through this. Trying to maintain an income, a postive attitude, plus all the other ramafications associated with cancer initially overwhelmed me. The outpouring of love from people who did not know me but knew my sister reassured me that single or not, I was not alone nor would I ever be. So, when I share that I am not this strong, I am being honest. You have each helped to carry me with your acts of service and kindness. Irrespective of how many donations or baskets we may or may not collect, this experience will be the greatest gift I have yet to receive because of the willingness of others to reach out and help. So, tell my sister not to worry-success is already ours as far as I am concerned. Thank you for all that you have done, are doing, and will continue to do on my behalf. I give you my most sincere promise that I will pay it forward for the rest of my life. In the meantime, I carry you each in my heart.
Gratitude and love always...Cyndi
