Hilary Dickerson

The Anything for a Friend family is full of heavy hearts and tear soaked cheeks today as we have had to say good-bye to Hilary Dickerson after a valiant and courageous battle with insidious cancer.  She exemplified the meaning of warrior and what it means to fight with hope.   Many have had to watch with broken hearts as she continued to decline but cancer is not stronger than hope…HOPE CONQUERS!  No longer do we hope in a cure that will come by way of a doctor or a treatment, but the hope that comes from the ultimate healer, even Jesus Christ.  Cancer has the power to take a lot of things, but it will never be stronger HOPE, the hope that comes through Christ, who has the power to save when all power on this earth fails.  I love Hilary and love that she is wrapped in the Savior’s arms.

 Many are in despair wondering if the event will go on…the event will most assuredly go on!  They need us more than ever!  Bills will not stop with this bad news, in fact they will only increase, so make every effort possible to come and support this sweet family and be prepared to feel the influence of loved ones who are appreciative from the other side.  Please remember to keep Hilary’s family in your prayers.

We are excited to announce that despite the heart break of losing Hilary, great hearts and souls came together on Saturday night and the preliminary results are in...you all helped to raise more than $30,000!!!! Though it cannot bring Hilary back, the process of doing Anything for a Friend served to comfort some hurting hearts and put into action the innate inclinations to serve. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

 

Hilary's Story

In February 2009, Hilary was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer.  After surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy Hilary's cancer went into remission for about 9 months.  Then we learned that her cancer had metastasized.  She had tumors in her lungs, spine, liver, kidneys, and bones.  Hilary has fought this battle with unmatched courage all while raising her two boys alongside her husband, Brian.

Hilary was recently told to get her affairs in order and she has made the decision to go to the Oasis Heaing Center where they combine traditional cancer treatments with alternative medicine.  Most treatments are not covered by health insurance.  Hilary and her family needs our help!  Will you do ANYTHING FOR A FRIEND?

Organizing Committee Meeting:
