Many can conjure up an immediate smile when thinking back to the months leading up to the birth of a new baby and the possibilities of the dreams and experiences that they will have in this life. For most, the arrival of their bundle of joy happens without incident and everything is just as it should be, the dreams for their child continue. For others, their precious babies come to the world with immediate challenges and they are forced to see through the pain and conquer
the unknown. We would like to introduce a special little boy, Kash Maughan.
Kash was born with a rare disease called X-linked Myotubular Myopathy. He is unable to walk, talk or roll over and requires a ventilator to help him breath. But that does not stop him! He also has a port in his stomach enabling him to receive his nutrients. He cannot swallow food and his liver cannot break things down. Despite all of these challenges, he is like most other 4 year olds; he loves to play, read, and watch movies and loves music! Unlike most other 4 year olds, this special little boy has had to develop bravery, patience and a fortitude that a lot of people don’t develop in a lifetime. The people who know and love Kash describe the gratitude that they feel, like they have an actual angel in their midst.
Though this disease and its treatment have tested and tried Kash and his family, they are stronger because of the journey. Debbie and Eric might say in reflection, “It is just as it should be” and they are indeed conquering the unknown. This incredible boy just continues to amaze everyone around him.
Kash is in need of some vital medical equipment that will help him function and flourish on a day-to-day basis. Please join us in doing Anything for a Friend!
